Blood Sweat and Tears

Mixed Martial Arts(MMA) & Fitness Program

What is Mixed Martial Arts(MMA)?
Mixed Martial Arts is a hybrid blend of different martial arts sports. These arts include Jujitsu, Boxing, Submission Wrestling, Kickboxing, Karate, Judo, Extreme Fitness and other disciplines. MMA became popularized by the current Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC), that pit two martial arts sport practitioners against each other in a show of skill and techniques. Matches are staged within a ring or octagon, and are complete with referee, safety equipment, and ultimate safety rules.
Do all MMA practitioners compete?
No! All MMA practitioners do not compete or need to compete. Competing is for those who choose to do so. Many MMA practitioners enjoy the benefits of getting in shape, learning useful self defense techniques, gaining mental and physical discipline, and camaraderie. All this can be done without competing in the ring or octagon.
Do women participate in MMA?
Of course! Women do just as well in MMA and have faired very well in the sport. We have many women within our program that excel in every facet of the sport! We encourage all women to join us in training!!

Can I get hurt in MMA?
As in any sport, there is always the chance of minor injury. At Fudo Shin Jujitsu MMA and Fitness (FSJ MMA), we strive for the up most levels of safety and respect among class members.
